Spring has sprung in Texas, and that means it’s the perfect time to set up a new man-made bee hive. First, choose a location that gets plenty of sunlight and is protected from strong winds. Next, gather all of your supplies, including the hive, frames, foundation, and protective gear. It’s always a good idea to “bee” prepared!

Once you have everything you need, it’s time to assemble the hive. Start by attaching the bottom board to the hive body, making sure it’s level. Then, add the frames and foundation, taking care to space them evenly. Finally, add the top cover and any additional features, such as an entrance reducer or a pollen trap.

Now it’s time to introduce your bees to their new home. Gently transfer the bees from their temporary housing into the hive, making sure to keep an eye out for the queen. She’s the most important bee in the hive, and it’s crucial that she gets settled in safely.

As the bees get settled in, keep an eye on them to make sure they’re healthy and happy. Regular inspections will help you identify any potential problems early on and take action to fix them. With a little TLC, your new man-made hive will be buzzing with activity in no time!
